IT Engineering is one such branch which, although had a late entry, has a tremendous demand and is among the most interesting engineering branch. On today's date, IT has become very popular. It covers various fields. An IT engineer can be responsible for several duties that range from installing applications to the design of complex information databases and computer networks. The duties might also include engineering computer hardware, data management, management of entire systems, networking, and the database and software design.
Information Technology or IT Engineering is a branch of engineering that deals with designing, studying, supporting, and implementing information systems based on a computer that contains computer hardware or software. When communication and computer technologies are combined, the result obtained is Info Tech or Information Technology.
Students whose interest area lies in internet or web technology; database management may opt for this course. The students can also pursue B.Sc.IT, however, B.Tech or B.E., is always more valuable and hence is preferred over B.Sc. The B.Tech or B.E. is an undergraduate degree program that is four years long. This duration of four years is divided into eight semesters, where each semester lasts for six months. In each semester, students deal with various theoretical subjects and lab sessions (practical).
The first few semesters cover applied mathematics, communication skills, applied physics, applied chemistry, electronic, electrical, mechanical engineering, mechanics of solids, and a few computer programming languages and its utilization. Usually, 3rd-semester students learn core subjects like data structure, logic design & system, database management system (DBMS), Operating System, Automation Theory, Algorithm Design, Software Engineering, Computer Networks, and Data Mining, Data Compression, Business Information Systems, Data Communication, etc. Few subjects have a theory as well as practical sessions. In a few semesters, students have to choose a subject among the college's elective subjects. The list of elective subjects differs in every college.
The IT branch provides information security information, information management like retrieving and storage, web scripting, computer science, and software engineering. This can conclude that this course aims to train the students to become experts in information management and use the skills learned to support the industries and various aspects of life.
The students should have passed the Higher Secondary Studies (Class 10+2) from a recognized board (CBSE/State Board or any other relevant board) with the core subjects of Chemistry, Physics, and Maths. They must have a score greater than 50% to become eligible for admission to any engineering colleges. The students should also appear for State level and national level entrance exams and test to become eligible for the engineering admission process.
The IT sector is evolving very well, which directly or indirectly impacts the working of numerous industries and sectors. IT industry is a supporting pillar for many other sectors like aviation, health care, education, telecommunication sector, manufacturing sector, a lot of government departments and initiatives, etc. IT Engineers can work as a Web Designer & Developer, Database Manager, Data Security Officer, Information Technology Engineer, Software Developer, etc. IT engineers have a flourishing future, and hence IT engineering is always a wise choice for students having relevant interests.
